F-15E - Garuda Team by BoggeyDan F-15E - Garuda Team by BoggeyDan
Garuda 1 (Talisman) and Garuda 2 (Shamrock) in their F-15E Strike Eagles up high above the clouds over Emmeria.

As many of you may know, the F-15E Strike Eagle is considered by some to be Garuda Team's signature aircraft, as can be seen in the trailers, promotional artwork and packaging art for Ace Combat 6.

The Strike Eagle, nicknamed "Beagle" (as in Bomb Eagle) by some, is considered to be the most ultimate F-15 variant to date, possessing both outstanding air and ground attack capabilities. Downgraded/upgraded variants of this amazing fighter are used by other countries such as Israel (F-15I), Saudi Arabia (F-15S), and South Korea (F-15K). Singapore will soon be receiving its own variant, the F-15SG, sometime between 2008-2009.

In the Ace Combat series, the F-15E made its first appearance in Ace Combat 2 as a non-playable enemy aircraft. Since then, it has appeared in succeeding games (except for Ace Combat 3 and Ace Combat Advance) as a playable aircraft, with interchangeable special weaponry (except in Ace Combat 5).

Whether it's making the earth shake with fear or seizing air superiority in a violent curb-stomp, the F-15E, "Mud Hen" to some, "Strike Eagle" to others, and "Terrible Beast" to its enemies, remains the name for unrivaled supremacy. In the hands of Garuda team, it is as the Archangel Michael's flaming sword.

Poetic nonsense aside, that's a work of beauty man.

I've played Ace Combat 6 and once I unlocked this fighter, there was no point in buying any of the others until the SU47 and F22 got unlocked. Best fighter in the entire game period. The Nosferatu was was seriously overpowered in the weapons area and it had a terrible tendency to stall on sharp turns.

Whoah...it looks very neat! :wow: The F-15E Strike Eagle! I also have the 1/72 scale plastic model and it's just awesome as hell! By the way, she's carrying ground dispenser/ cluster bombs? :o Too bad I've never played AC6 :(
The details are so fine! :) How did you do this? Hand-made drawings?

Yes, those are cluster bombs - CBU-100/Mk-20 Rockeye II's, in fact.

I trace over photographs I took of my models in order to achieve the results you see here now. I then refine or add details for better accuracy by looking at aircraft references.

Really nice work! :D
Although I think the colors are more clearer than the normal F-15Ds. I know 'cause I re-painted a model of the F-15D with the colors of Garuda ;)

But it's a really nice work. :D

Yep, I've noticed that from the screenshots. But I've decided to use the default Gunship Gray scheme anyways because many Strike Eagles are like that.;)

One the kickass fighters out there. I can't resist the way the F-15E looks. With the way it's painted in it's default paint and the fact that it can carry a wide array of weapons! Damn, I wish the Philippine Air Force had this.

Like ~pauldy said, it's so utterly expensive that probably even we can't afford this baby.:( If only those damn Filipino politicians weren't too money-hungry, we'll be so much richer that we can afford such high-tech equipment!

Also, if the government puts a huge amount of the annual budget on the Department of Science and Technology, we could be developing our own aircraft O_o

It's also one of the most expensive aircraft.

No wonder only nations with big pockets have them~

I think the price is worth it though. It could take on any aircraft in the sky and carries lot's of Air to Ground weapons.

Not really.
Compared to the 120+ million dollar F22 that was supposed to replace it, the F15 with its breathtaking service record is a huge bargain.
Countries are still trying to develop fighters that can keep up with it.

I suppose the F-15's awesomeness mitigates the ceased production of the F-22. I'm still pissed by the fact that they want to put that money towards getting more F-35s.

Well, like the F-15, the F-35 is also a lot cheaper than the F-22. The F-22 is also very limited in that it was designed for air-to-air missions and not much else. This puts a serious strain on its usefulness because there aren't that many rival military powers with air units that can stand up to one.

The F-35 on the other hand, like the F-15, is designed with multiple roles in mind and has a comparable weapons capacity to the F-22. Let's also not forget the VTOL feature in the B variant.

I'll concede that the F-35 is cheaper, but the F-22 is just as versatile. An F-35's total maximum weapon load out is 18,000 lbs, while the four under wing hard-points on the F-22 can carry 20,000, not including internal weapons. The F-35's maximum takeoff weight is 70,000 lbs for the Air Force variant (60,000 for the other two), while the F-22's maximum takeoff weight is 80,000. The F-22 has a better thrust-to-weight ratio. The F-22 can thrust vector, the F-35 cannot.

I can understand the Marines and Navy wanting the F-35. It's smaller, and there are VTOL and STOL variants for them. But the Air Force should be wanting F-22s.

And as soon as the Raptor's price becomes more reasonable, the USAF will have all they want. In the meantime, they'll be concentrating more on the JSF but by the time the technology and avionics of the Raptor become cheaper, the fighter will be completely obsolete. Military tech is not known for staying stagnant for very long.

Not necessarily. The B-52 is a 1950-60s design, and it's still in use. The F-15 entered service in 1989, and is still a top of the line fighter. I guess the F-22 has at least a good 20 years of time before it becomes obsolete to the point that we would be endangering our pilots.

That is, if drones don't take over the military.
