GGSF E6: Youkai of the Ocean

Several hours have passed since the people of Gensokyo have finally managed to defeat the gigantic watermelon creature which attacked the night's festivities. As the creature's main body iself was essentially nothing but a giant watermelon, some humans and youkai have taken to feasting on its sweet and juicy interior.

Reimu Hakurei, along with Ran Yakumo and Chen, have organized a small group of volunteers for their mission to rescue Yukari. Among the volunteers were Reimu's longtime partner Marisa Kirisame and fellow miko Sanae Kochiya, as well as those with close ties to Yukari, such as Yuyuko Saigyouji and Suika Ibuki.


The next morning, as daylight was just beginning to light up the dark morning sky, the group then set off for the ocean, flying all the way. Not too long after reaching the airspace above deep blue waters, they had come across a rather unusual youkai, resembling a girl in a whale costume.

"And I thought an ocean so much bigger than that misty lake won't have any denizens above it." Reimu said.

"Well, uh... me, and a few others like me... we actually do live in... AND over the ocean." the youkai replied.

"I've heard from many people outside Gensokyo that whales would breach from the water for various reasons." Reimu said.

"Well, uh, we do need a breath of fresh air from time to time," Tereya replied.

"As typical of most mammals," Reimu replied back. "But something's telling me you're out of the water for something else."

"Yes, ummm... that's right." Tereya replied. "Can we, uh, all go for a morning exercise?"


Still blushing and turning her head away, Tereya lifted her right hand, and began to shoot a spread of danmaku. It wasn't long before Reimu was firing back, and thus, Reimu and Tereya were then exchanging danmaku fire with each other.

Yep, just a simple scene of the confrontation with the whale youkai, Tereya Ichibousenri. And in tradition with most Touhou games, I have Reimu confront her here, along with some dialogue just like in the games as well.

This scene depicts Tereya during the phases in between her spellcard attacks, in which she attacks with wave-style danmaku in various spread patterns. Also, she releases from her "blowhole" destroyable anchor-shaped danmaku that travel in arcs toward her opponent (my tribute to a certain horizontal-scrolling shmup series only a few of you can guess).
