After the "morning exercise" with the whale youkai, the group continued on their journey across the seemingly endless ocean. It wasn't long before they saw a mysterious island in the distance.
"Dry land!" Reimu remarked. "I have no idea if Yukari and that man are somewhere in that place, but we must investigate."
Upon reaching a cove in the island, they came across a youkai not well-known to the denizens of Gensokyo, a female humanoid with a fish's body in place of her legs - a mermaid.
"Ah! A rather unusual humanoid... just like what my sister became," the mermaid remarked.
Maiden of the Cove*

"I guess we people with arms and legs are rather unusual for you marine creatures?" Reimu replied.
"Well, not exactly." Kashi replied back. "It's just... well, let's just say you land-dwelling air-breathers with smooth pinkish skin aren't a common sight around these parts."
"Speaking of which... did you happen to know some man around here, who happens to be dressed in white?"
"If you want to find out if anybody like that is anywhere around here, you'll have to get past me first."
"Is it because of your sister, or because we're intruders in your territory?"
"Well... let's just say both."
Opening her mouth wide, Kashi began her attack with a mermaid song, and thus, Reimu was forced to fight back in yet another battle that brings to mind her previous showdown with Kyouko Kasodani** - magical bullets created from sound energy.
* - I made up her character title myself, and is in no way meant to be her "official" character title.
** - Stage 2 boss fight of Ten Desires.

This time, I decided on a different approach for this one - a "mock gameplay screenshot" of sorts. Here, the stage 2 boss is in the process of unleashing her first spellcard attack (which I've unofficially named Sea Song "Marine Blossom").

By the way, I saw somewhere manga, where Gensokyo was submerged under water...
